At Onsen Box, we are always searching for the finest wellness products to complement your relaxation and self-care rituals. This time, we are delighted to introduce a special organic guava tea, made from 100% organically grown guava leaves. Sourced from Nankoku Nishigawa Farm in Kochi Prefecture, these leaves are cultivated using a natural farming method that completely avoids pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and herbicides. The result is a tea that embodies the purest elements of nature, rich in the blessings of the southern sun and earth, offering a soothing, health-boosting experience in every sip.

The Farm’s Commitment to Organic Cultivation

Nankoku Nishigawa Farm is located in the serene countryside of Nankoku City, Kochi Prefecture, where the air and water are pure. The farm follows an exceptionally strict organic cultivation method, often referred to as the pinnacle of organic farming. On just 20 ares of land, guava plants thrive without the use of pesticides, fertilizers, or herbicides. By maintaining a natural ecosystem, beneficial insects keep harmful pests in check, and the farm owner personally inspects each guava plant daily, removing pests by hand. This painstaking dedication ensures the highest quality tea leaves.

The Careful Process Behind the Tea

Freshly picked guava leaves are meticulously washed by hand, sun-dried under the bright southern sun, and slowly roasted to bring out a refreshing flavor. This careful process preserves the tea’s natural aroma and enhances its beneficial properties.

The Power of Guava Tea

Guava leaves have been studied for their impressive health benefits. Research conducted by Kochi University has confirmed the functionality of guava leaves, particularly their high polyphenol content and ability to inhibit the absorption of sugars and fats. These findings have been presented at the Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry.

Further studies by the Kochi Prefectural Industrial Technology Center revealed that Tosa Kuni Guava Tea exhibits superior lipase inhibition compared to four popular bottled teas, including oolong tea, pu-erh oolong tea, green tea, and commercial guava tea. Lipase is an enzyme responsible for breaking down fats in the body, and inhibiting it can help prevent fat absorption, potentially supporting weight management.

How to Enjoy Guava Tea

For a soothing cup of guava tea, add one teaspoon (about 3g) of tea leaves to a teapot, pour in hot water, cover, and steep for one minute before serving.

Tosa Kuni Guava Tea also pairs wonderfully with Japanese cuisine. It can be used instead of water in miso soup, simmered dishes, tempura batter, bread dough, and even curry, adding a unique depth of flavor while enhancing the health benefits of everyday meals.

Experience the rich aroma and natural goodness of Tosa Kuni Guava Tea, crafted with the utmost care and dedication to organic farming.
