The Natural Scent of Hokkaido
Farm Tomita Lavender Water

Purple lavender fields stretching toward the mountains are one of the most memorable sights of summer in Hokkaido.
Farm Tomita Lavender Water captures a small part of that landscape in a bottle. This natural floral water is distilled from lavender grown at Farm Tomita in Furano, one of Japan’s most celebrated lavender farms.
Unlike a sweet perfume, it offers a fresh, botanical scent reminiscent of lavender flowers, green stems, and leaves.
What Is Farm Tomita?

Farm Tomita is located in Nakafurano, in the heart of Hokkaido.
The Tomita family began cultivating the land in 1903, and Tadao Tomita and his wife Sachiko started growing lavender commercially in 1958.
From Lavender Field to Floral Water

Lavender Water is created during the process of extracting lavender essential oil.
Freshly harvested lavender flowers, stems, and leaves are packed into a large still. Steam passes through the plants, carrying their aromatic components into a cooling system.
As the steam cools, it returns to liquid and is separated into two parts: essential oil and aromatic distilled water.
The resulting floral water contains the lavender’s water-soluble components and a very small amount of essential oil.
Farm Tomita restarted its own lavender distillation in 1980 and continues to grow, harvest, and distill lavender as an agricultural crop.
A Different Scent Every Year

Farm Tomita Lavender Water is unadjusted and contains no added fragrance.
Its scent varies slightly depending on the weather, lavender variety, harvest conditions, and the natural state of the plants. These subtle differences are part of the beauty of a pure, unmixed floral water.
The aroma is also different from concentrated lavender essential oil. Rather than being intensely sweet or floral, it has a fresh, green, and slightly grassy character.
You may notice a small amount of dark natural sediment at the bottom of the bottle. This comes from the distilled plant material and does not affect the product’s quality.
